Oh for a clone stamp that would offer a rectangle choice and "Move" on the chosen spot .
I suppose that this is the wrong section for this post but I had to mention it.The boffins may well come up with it one day, soon I hope.
Regards,
Graham

How do you mean, Graham? Like a windowed area of the document?

Hi David The selection circle that you centre over the area that requires work would be so much better if you had a  square  selection so you could line it up with a straight line.It would save guessing and then having to  remove the selection and try again. It would be better for positioning and if you were off a touch you could move the selection up or down a touch without having to remove it and try again.Just a thought.

I'm not sure if you're aware of it - it's not altogether obvious - that in Elements 6, there is an overlay option:

Select the Clone Stamp or Healing Brush
In the options toolbar, at the far right, click the icon with two overlapping rectangles.
Here you can enable the overlay, change its opacity and set it to inverse (negative image)
Now when you alt/opt click to set the source you'll have a moveable copy of the entire image so you can line it up.

If you set the Hide attribute in the options, the overlay will disappear whilst you paint.

Personally, I'd prefer it if the overlay was restricted to the size of the brush, which is the case in Photoshop's Vanishing Point filter but it's better than nothing at all.

I hope this helps!

Graham,

You can get a square brush in the Clone Stamp Tool.  Just click on the right arrow by Default Brushes and go down the list to Square Brushes.  Click on one and you will have a square brush for your cloning.
